This module presents the main challenges in transboundary river management and possible ways to overcome them cooperatively. It introduces the basis of different theoretical approaches for a better understanding of cooperation processes, including the basics of practical skills of negotiation.
The main aim is to familiarize the participants with the key principles of International Water Law, the most important water agreements and water institutions in Central Asia, and the tracks and tools of Water Diplomacy. In addition to a deep understanding of the situation in Central Asia, we will go through various international cases. Further attention is given to specific aspects, such as the role of third parties in Water Diplomacy processes, the influence of gender aspects, and the fundamentals of negotiation theory and practice.
The module is designed for water sector professionals who possess extensive knowledge in this field and aim to deepen their understanding of specific aspects related to transboundary waters.
